Seal Bay

We were lucky enough to get a private sunset tour of Seal Bay in the evening with a lady from the conservation park. She was very knowledgeable, and had a real passion for the seals. We got to see the skeleton of a whale, Australian sealions (male, female and pups) and two rare and endangered birds 'hoodies'.

The sealions have a three day cycle - they go fishing at sea for three days then rest on shore for three days. The males are really big and can weigh 350Kg. They don't mate for life and the males do nothing except inseminate females.  The females have one pup and they hide the pup in a cave or sheltered place so eagles don't get it when they are at sea for the three days fishing.
